When I think of eating and the ambiance I want to surround me, I usually think of being outside. Give me a cool breeze, a bit of shade, a great table, and of course, interesting people. Very European!
It is great to sit outdoors, feel the breeze, and watch the shadows come and go with the day. It’s like a picnic, except a lot more comfortable! In Asheville we are blessed with a moderate climate – most of the time! This week is a prime example of “it’s time to get outdoors!”
When I received a notice that Sunny Point Café had turned its patio into an all-season dining experience – I was thrilled. Sunny Point(www.sunnypointcafe.com/) has always been a great place to dine for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and to bring friends. I am always amazed to see just how unique and interesting Haywood Road in West Asheville(www.onhaywood.com/) has become. Sunny Point is almost like a hub, with spokes going out from all directions to homes and businesses. Surrounded by bike shops, schools, churches, eateries, and “rediscovered” shops, it is a great place to sit, watch the people go by, and say hello to friends I haven’t seen in a while.
Recently, Sunny Point Café held a ribbon-cutting for the new outdoor dining experience. The crowd was lively, the food and wine were perfect, and the sun was shining down on a brand new patio roof, letting in just the right amount of light. Oh, life is good!
With roll-down side coverings, visible doorways, radiant ceiling heat, and many fans for hot weather – they really thought about creature comfort! So, if you’re not comfortable in the sun, rain, cold, or wind, and you are looking for a great place to be, look no further than Sunny Point Café. It gives a whole new meaning to dining al fresco!
