It was such a simple toy. The 3-year-old was pushing around a yellow-wheeled device used to roll up extension cords. The cord holder had round wheels, a crank, and a handle. It was all the young man needed to hold himself upright as he pushed it across the patio again and again for hours!
This was an extraordinarily beautiful autumn day at Green Creek Winery located near Landrum, SC, but still in Polk County, NC. People gathering on the patio, listening to great jazz music, nibbling on crackers, cheese, and grapes while sipping the wine of their choice. Some had dressed the part: the ladies in elegant 1930s form-fitting dresses and the men in loose brown suits with suspenders. Others simply enjoyed the wines and music while the occasional couple would get up to swing dance to the lively tunes.
Ever tried a “rose” chardonnay? Green Creek winery is known for simply crushing the white grape hulls and fermenting them with the juice – just like a red wine. The result is an award-winning Chardonnay Rosso. An idea so simple, one that gives so much pleasure on a beautiful autumn day.
